Dreamed that I was strolling through downtown and suddenly I was being chased by vampires, werewolves and aliens. I saw one of those blue police box thingies and ducked inside. Sherman and Peabody set the way back machine for 1999 (because it was a very good year for me), but it didn't go anywhere. There was a flash and a bang, but when I opened the door, I was right where I started. I do have to say that I look fabulous in these tights and the big 'S' on my chest really accentuates my assets.

Listen up all you Jim and Pam fanfic addicts out there. There’s a fab new LJ community and it’s called alovesosexy so hurry up and join (that’s an order, mmkay?) The community will act as an archive as well as a writing circle. The purpose of being a writing circle is to have JAM fanfic writers and readers connect and help one another via written critique, i.e. feedback. While the main purpose of the community is to post JAM fanfiction, discussions regarding writing can also be held. Please keep in mind that we’re here to enjoy JAM fanfic and offer feedback.

The community strongly encourages everyone who takes the time to read someone’s story to leave them feedback. No one-liners that simply say, “That was great!” They want you to tell the writer why you thought it was great. And if the story wasn’t so great? Then it is most important that you tell the writer why it didn’t work for you and to offer some suggestions. No one can improve their writing capabilities unless they are given constructive criticism. And by constructive criticism, we mean absolutely no bashing of any kind. Keep it polite but honest. Think of how you would want someone to tell you what was wrong with your own story. The good thing is they won’t tolerate any reviews that contain bashing but neither will they tolerate mindless gushing either (which is fab for a new writer like myself, who WANTS to improve her writing skills.) So remember to be articulate and thorough when leaving feedback!

Real life has thrown a wrench into my week. So first, my sincere apologies for my tardiness, and second...

Congratulations to the Doctor Who and Twilight fans for their fantastic showing during the Support Stacie Author Auction, and to all of the other fandoms who participated and helped to raise such an incredible amount of money, including my Office friends who dove in for the first time.

A big shout out to my pal wiggiemomsi who did an excellent job in rallying the troops. We had a blast playing with you guys in the weeks leading up to the auction and during the auction itself. As I told gioiamia , I have never been so happy to get my butt kicked as I was this weekend. You guys rock!

Now, wiggiemomsi , I know that you are probably sad that I won't get to finish my fabulous DOCTOR Who/Gilmore Girls crossover, but I thought that I would bring it over here for your reading pleasure so that you can gaze upon it longingly and remember the brief shining moment when you owned a piece of the Mags ;)

The bells chimed as Lorelai swung though the door to the diner. “Hey, Burger Boy, sear me some dead cow, I’m starving!” she called into the kitchen.

“Sit down, shut up, I’ll get to you when I get to you,” Luke’s disembodied voice snarled.

“Please, Luke, please?” Lorelai whined. “Oh! And, I need coffee. Stat! You can just plug a line into my veins.”

Luke stepped out of the kitchen, wiping his hands on a towel. “I’ll make you an egg white omelet and pour you a glass of juice,” he said pointedly.

“I need red meat!”

“That’s what she said!” Kirk piped up from his table across the room. He turned to look at Babette and asked, “That was right, wasn’t it? I got it right!”

Babette shrugged. “Beats me, but if he’s the one servin’ it up, count me in,” she screeched, leering at Luke.

“It’s eight forty-five, I’m not making you a burger for breakfast,” Luke growled, shooting Babette a quelling glance.

“Good, because I don’t want to be a burger, I want to eat a burger,” Lorelai answered. “Boy,” she added with a lascivious grin.

“Cut that out,” he whispered. Unable to help himself, Luke leaned across the counter, caught in her gravitational pull.

“What?” Lorelai asked, batting her eyelashes at him.

Luke sighed and pushed away from the counter, reaching for the coffee pot. “Do we still have to go to that thing for your parents?”

“Look at it this way,” Lorelai began, her eyes fixed intently on the stream of dark liquid flowing into her favorite mug. “If you go…” Lorelai stopped abruptly as a loud crash had every head in the diner swiveling toward the window.

“What the…” Luke muttered.

“Where’d that come from?” Babette rasped.

“Was that there before?” Kirk asked with a puzzled frown.

“Cool!” Lorelai said in an awed tone.

“It looks like one ‘a those old phone booth things, like ya see in the movies!” Babette said excitedly. “It just landed there. Plop! On the sidewalk.”

“Uh oh,” Kirk breathed as Taylor emerged from the market. He tugged on his grey cardigan as he made a beeline for the blue box on the sidewalk.

“It says ‘Police’ on it,” Lorelai pointed out. “Did Coop put that there?”

“It just landed there! Boom! Outta the sky!” Babette said as she hurried to press her face to the glass.

“That looks familiar,” Luke murmured.

“Oh yeah? Maybe you had one like it in that magical storage unit of yours,” Lorelai snickered.

Luke turned to glare at her and asked, “You want me to move the cherubs back in?”

“God no,” Lorelai said, barely suppressing a shudder.

Luke turned and stared at the blue box, frowning as he searched his memory. A smirk curved his lips as he saw Taylor rap on the door to the box. “Man, I wish I could hear what he’s saying.”

“You want me to read his lips?” Kirk offered.

“No!” the occupants of the diner chorused.

“I was just offering,” Kirk pouted as he sank back down into his chair.

“Feel your taters,” Lorelai snickered as she took a sip of her coffee.

“What?” Luke asked, shaking his head at her.

“Later, Babe, I’ll feel your taters later.”

Luke cocked his head as he turned back to the tableau playing out on the sidewalk. A crowd had gathered around the mysterious blue box as Taylor continued to demand an explanation. He blinked and then grinned as he exclaimed, “Dr. Who! It looks like the police box from Dr. Who!”

Lorelai reared back a bit as she stared at him, stunned. “Oh my God. The Star Trek stuff isn’t enough? Is there no end to your geekiness?” she mocked.

“I love that show!” Kirk crowed.

“Great, I’m sleeping with Kirk’s nerdish soulmate,” Lorelai groaned.

“Not funny,” Luke snapped.

“You want me to leave you two alone so that you can cuddle up on the sofa and watch a little SciFi channel together?” she asked earnestly.

“I’m just sayin’ that was the kind of box they used on the show,” Luke grumbled, turning away.

“Aw, don’t go, Captain,” Lorelai said as she reached out and grasped his arm. “I’ll let you beam me up later,” she promised. “I think my tribbles can use a little trouble.”

“I’ve got work to do,” he muttered.

“The door is opening!” Babette screeched, pressing her nose and both hands to the glass.

“You’ll have to put some Windex on that,” Lorelai whispered to Luke as she stood up to get a better view.

They watched as Taylor’s eyes widened, and he took a large step back from the blue police box. Kirk craned his neck and said, “I don’t see anyone.”

“Look down,” Babette said as she pointed toward the bottom of the box.

“Oh God,” Luke groaned as he turned away.

“It’s Paul Anka!” Babette cackled as she pointed to the shaggy dog sitting just inside of the box.

“Dr. Who regenerated into Lorelai and Luke’s dog?” Kirk asked.

“Lorelai’s dog, not mine,” Luke corrected.

“Aw, Paul Anka!” Lorelai cooed as she waved to him through the window. “Mommy’s so proud of you!”

“Don’t encourage him,” Luke snapped.

Lorelai turned to Luke with a brilliant smile. “See? I told you he was smart. Doors mean nothing to him, and now, look! He has invented time travel! Now I can go back and right all of the tragic fashion wrongs of my past,” she said excitedly. “Never again will I fall for the whole gaucho thing,” she vowed.

“Yes, well, that would make everything alright,” Luke said dryly.

“Gimme some broccoli, Senor Crankypants, Mommy’s boy deserves a treat!”

I should feel a little tense, right? A little uptight, perhaps. My OCD and inherent competitiveness should be kicking into overdrive, but for some reason it's not.

DOCTOR Who is kicking our butts.

Twilight is kicking all of our butts.

I've never been so damn happy to have my ass kicked. This auction is fantastic. I don't think I can express fully what this means to me. For once, I am at a loss for words.

Don't worry, they'll come back. They always do. But, I look at this icon of me and Pooh, and then I look at the totals from the first night of bidding, and all I can do is blink back the tears in my eyes.

Let me stick my ass out a little further. You can kick away!

Well gang, the Support Stacie Author Auction will be wrapping up tomorrow night at 11:59 pm CST. Tonight (Saturday at 11:59 pm) they will open up anonymous bidding for all authors. Let me just take a moment to thank everyone who has participated so far. I am so proud to be a part of such a generous, enthusiastic and downright funny group of people.

A Fanfic-On-Demand fundraiser is in the works for friends of Stacie (That's truelovepooh to you and me). The gist of the project is that authors in any fandom are invited to write a short fic on demand. The highest bidder gets to deliver the fic challenge to the author they’ve “won,” along with the story’s pairing, the rating, and other pertinent details (within reason and within the author’s stated fandom and limitations - i.e., some authors prefer not to write smut). The author will be given up to 30 days to finish the fic, beginning with the day that payment is received. Details will be forthcoming, but if you are interested in being one of the authors, please let me know! This will be a fun project designed to challenge the author and entertain their fans while raising money for a great cause.

I'm already in. You'll see me on the auction block, and I hope to see you there too!

A message from Professor Danes

*takes deep breath*

One year ago today I wrote the first chapter of Good at Dating and posted it on fanfiction.net. Today, I will be posting chapter 100 of the third part of the story, Middle Management, and hopefully chapter 69 (hee!) of the adult counterpart, Good at Dirty!, and as hard as it is for me to say this, they will be the final chapters of these stories.

365 days and 228 chapters (plus one Bizzaro World instance when Olivia Jane and I stayed up too late on a Friday night) later, I think it’s time for me to give these poor people a rest, and to take one myself. The timing of the one year anniversary coinciding with chapter 100 of MM and 69 of Dirty!, was just too serendipitous for even Luke to brush off. It’s time.

I would like to thank all of you who have read, reviewed, PMed and emailed me over the past year to share your love of this series with me. I can’t tell you how much your support and encouragement has meant to me. I started writing this story during a very difficult time in my life, and in many ways it became my salvation. I will forever be grateful to it for opening up the world outside of my bedroom for me, and for bringing people into my life that I now consider my good friends.

This does not mean that I intend to stop writing, it simply means that I am looking forward to new challenges. I am especially excited to be a part of Gilmore Girls Virtual Season 9, and I can’t wait for the launch of the season two challenge for the Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda ficathon. I also feel it’s time to step back into my 3D life, and to give my family, friends and career a little more of the attention that has been showered on this obsession of mine.

As for Middle Management, because they are still living their middle, there will be questions that will remain unanswered, events that will remain unseen and issues that will be unresolved. I know that this will be a disappointment to some, but the only true resolution to this story would be to kill them all off, and you wouldn’t want that, would you? Who knows, maybe now that I will have a little more time, I will actually get to go back and read this story instead of just spot checking myself. Maybe I’ll fall in love with it all over again…

Meanwhile I will focus my attention on my new story, which will showcase my love of magic markers. Kidding, just kidding!

Good Days Wear Me Out

Yesterday was a good day. My company hosted its second annual charity golf outing benefiting the Susan G. Komen Foundation, and it was a great success. We raised over $27,000 to support our local chapter. A survivor was there to speak to us, and put things in perspective for the whole crowd. She broke down the numbers, telling us how many mammograms we had paid for, and then quantified that by telling us bluntly that we had just saved the life of one woman out of thirty. She drove her point hom by asking us to look around at the crowd and note how many women were there. She then thanked the participants for saving one of our lives.

It was so hard for me to to cry at that moment, knowing what some of my friends are going through in battling this disease. Knowing that what we had done, while good, wouldn't be enough. And so the fight continues, for these brave women and for those who love them. I pray for happier times when such good days are no longer necessary.

Well, I’ll tell ya. We’re sponsoring a little Gilmore Girls Chat-a-thon. This will give readers an opportunity to chat with various GG fanfic authors and ask all of those burning questions that keep us up at night. The possibilities are endless. For example, you could ask Filo how cold that whipped cream in the Soda Shoppe really was. Or, you could ask Olivia Jane why Lorelai was so neglectful of Gracie that she never introduced her daughter to Frizz Ease. Ooh! How about asking Grizzly where you can get one of those sexy sarongs? You could ask Robinpoppins if you can massage Luke’s hands after he’s finally done kneading that dough. Oh, that lucky, lucky dough…. But, I digress. Heck, you can even ask me how Lorelai doesn’t walk funny from all that Dirty! We’re also working on some more victims, I mean authors, as we speak…

Ahem. Why are we doing this? Well, it was inspired by our good friend, Pooh, she of the raven hair, sparkling eyes and mad Trivial Pursuit skills, has been struggling with some pretty ding-dang serious health issues for a while now. She has found her salvation in the wonderful world of Gilmore Girls fan fiction, praise Luke, and pass the coffee! Her friends in another fandom sponsored such a chat for her, as a fundraiser to help with medical expenses. We thought that it was such a great idea, that we stole it faster than the Banyon boys could swipe the Firelight Festival bonfire.

Over the last few months, I have been lucky enough to be contacted by readers, like Pooh, expressing the pleasure they get from reading these stories. I have also heard from a few other people that are facing similar obstacles in life, and have found a modicum of comfort in the sweet escape that a little time in Star’s Hollow can offer. I consider myself very lucky to be able to call these fabulous people, as well as a few of these very talented authors, my friends. A few of us thought it would be fun if we could give the readers a forum where they could chat with their favorite author and ask those burning questions.

Feelin' Fancy

I feel so cool now. I got my new computer today, and I have been completely absorbed in it all day. It's so fast, and so fancy schmancy. I learned to make my own screencaps today. I couldn't do that before because Elsie didn't even have a DVD player. I made a bunch of GG S1 avis and then put in Love Actually to watch as I messed around some more. Captured a bunch of Colin Firth for my viewing pleasure.

Got all of my files and iTunes transferred, so I am good to go. Started another chapter of MM, but find that I am far too distracted by my fancy schmanciness to do it justice...

I think I'll load up P&P and capture Mr. Darcy for my very own...
